SJ and SoftBank Robotics Singapore Partner on AI-Powered Facility Management Solutions
Collaboration covers service robotics pilots in Singapore and joint development of an integrated facilities management software offering
SJ Integrated Solutions (SJ‑IS), part of SJ Group, and SoftBank Robotics Singapore have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop an AI-powered facility management solution , an integrated software offering intended to help building owners and facilities management teams manage robotics alongside their wider building operations.
The collaboration will encompass two linked areas: deploying and evaluating service robotics in existing buildings and developing the software capabilities that bring robotics management and facilities management together.
Both partners will contribute sites for service robot pilots in Singapore, including SJ Campus. SJ‑IS will contribute its facilities management expertise and proprietary 24K platform to coordinate deployments and track operational performance, while SoftBank Robotics Singapore will provide its service robotics expertise, field operating capabilities and Smart Building X (SBX) platform. Performance will be assessed against agreed baselines and targets.
The proposed AI-powered facility management offering will combine 24K platform, a robotics management platform to be developed by SJ-IS, and new facilities management software modules. Development will focus on connecting robotic deployments with facilities workflows and building systems such as lifts, doors and access control, enabling facilities management teams to coordinate robotic services and give building owners clearer visibility of how those deployments contribute to service delivery.
Findings from the pilots will inform the offering’s development, drawing on how robots interact with facilities teams, service workflows and building systems in daily operations. Both companies aim to help building asset owners and operators deliver more responsive services, use resources more effectively and gain clearer visibility of operational performance and outcomes achieved.
Alfred Fox, Chief Executive, Integrated Solutions, SJ Group, said: “Our ambition to advance cognitive cities starts with improving how buildings serve people every day. Asset owners need confidence that technology can work within their facilities and service arrangements and deliver value over time. Through this collaboration with SoftBank Robotics, we want to develop trusted reliable solutions grounded in those needs, with experience from real operating environments guiding how they evolve and where they can make the greatest difference.”
Kenichi Yoshida, Chief Business Officer, SoftBank Robotics Group Corp., said: “Every building presents its own operating conditions and service requirements. Working with SJ Integrated Solutions gives us an opportunity to bring robotics expertise directly into the development of facilities management software, alongside the teams who understand those requirements on the ground. Together, we aim to create an offering that can support practical adoption and be adapted to different customers and markets.”
The parties intend to bring the proposed AI-powered facility management solution offering to market jointly and explore opportunities in Singapore, Australia, the wider Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and other mutually agreed markets.
