SJ partners Rönesans Holding to develop DAPEK Industrial Zone in Ceyhan
SJ Group partners with Rönesans Holding to deliver next-generation industrial and logistics hub in Ceyhan, Türkiye
SJ Group has formed a strategic partnership with Rönesans Holding to support the planning, development and management of the DAPEK Industrial Zone − envisioned as a strategic national and next-generation industrial and logistics hub within Türkiye’s Eastern Mediterranean energy and trade corridor.
As part of the partnership, SJ will serve as the management partner to develop strategic development plans and institutional setup and collaborate closely with Rönesans to implement global best practices in the development of DAPEK. This includes strategy & positioning, planning and design of land use, basic and energy infrastructure, utilities and logistics, creating sustainability frameworks and investment enablement.
The collaboration leverages on SJ’s global expertise in industrial planning and institutional setup, energy infrastructure, plug and play integration and investor networks together with Rönesans’s experience in delivering and investing in large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects. SJ has been providing strategic industrial positioning and planning for DAPEK since 2025.
Developed by Rönesans in close coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the industrial zone is strategically aimed to align infrastructure provision, permitting processes and incentive frameworks with the needs of global investors. To create an efficient, well-integrated industrial ecosystem that supports large, capital-intensive and export-oriented investments, SJ will support Rönesans in establishing investor-friendly solutions that reduce complexity, enhance efficiency and accelerate project delivery.
DAPEK is designed to host a cluster of advanced industrial activities, including petrochemicals, advanced materials and energy transition related industries. The construction of the area that covers 2,750 hectares with two kilometres of coastline started in 2025. The industrial zone is anchored by a world-scale polypropylene production facility, dedicated liquid bulk and container terminals, and integrated energy infrastructure, including a solar power plant and green hydrogen production facility.
Tan Wooi Leong, Senior Executive Director, Energy at SJ, said, “Our collaboration with Rönesans marks a significant milestone for SJ as we strengthen our role as a leading global advisor in the development of major industrial and port-based clusters, particularly those focused on energy transition and emerging technologies towards a net zero manufacturing site. Our deep expertise in industrial parks and economic zones will help establish DAPEK as a role model for industrial development in the region, while reinforcing its role in advancing Türkiye’s long-term industrial growth and infrastructure ambitions.”
Dr. Erman Ilıcak, President Emeritus of Rönesans Holding, “We believe that international partnerships are a key driver of sustainable growth. These collaborations, which bring together a global perspective with strong local expertise, present a powerful model for industrial development. An approach that aligns technological innovation with environmental responsibility will help create long-term value for Türkiye and the wider region.
Rönesans is an anchor investor at DAPEK, investing USD2 billion to the development of a Propane Dehydrogenation (PDH) and Polypropylene (PP) plant and a liquid bulk terminal. This project is expected to be operational by the end of 2027 and will contribute approximately USD300 million annually to Türkiye’s economy. With global experience in industrial master planning, energy infrastructure and sustainability, SJ Group will contribute to strengthening DAPEK’s long-term strategy and supporting our sustainable growth goals.”
