Farah has led sustainability strategy for landmark projects including the Museum of the Future (UAE), Expo 2020 Sustainability Pavilion (UAE), Louvre Abu Dhabi (UAE), and Bee’ah Headquarters (UAE). She was also Technical Director for COP28, driving carbon-neutral delivery for the UAE COP28 Team and UNFCCC.

She is a LEED and WELL Accredited Professional, Verified Research Expert with the Dubai Future Foundation, and co-author of Net Zero City (UAE/UK) — a multidisciplinary framework for achieving net zero as well as Mission Zero (UAE) — a children’s book promoting climate awareness.  Farah’s work has earned awards such as Influential Woman of the Year 2024 (UAE) and Green Consultant of the Year 2023 (UAE). She continues to advance climate-responsive design and systems thinking across global cities and infrastructure.

Oral presentation: Nature-Based Solutions for Resilient, Liveable Cities - A Case Study on Cannery Creek

Urban wastewater and stormwater systems are increasingly challenged by population growth, climate variability and the limits of conventional grey infrastructure. Nature-based solutions (NBS) can provide cost-effective alternatives, delivering multiple benefits across environmental, social and economic dimensions. The Cannery Creek project in Brisbane, Australia demonstrates an innovative, multi-layered approach that integrates nutrient offsets, creek regeneration, sediment basins, wetlands and bioretention basins to reduce wet weather overflows and improve water quality. The anticipated outcomes are significant: an estimated 96% reduction in property overflows, removal of over 210000kg/yr of contaminants, and AUD20M in savings compared with traditional infrastructure. Additional benefits include 60,000m2 of riparian rehabilitation and 2km of new public walkways, enhancing community amenity.

A Way Back to Regenerative Design
City Innovators Stage

Cities today face a difficult reality. They are expected to do more with less, respond to changing climate conditions, de-risk billion-dollar investments, support economic growth, and safeguard the well-being of communities — all within environments that are increasingly complex and uncertain.

Simply doing less harm is no longer enough. There is a growing expectation for cities to go further — to create systems, designs and communities that restore, renew and give back more than they take.

But what does that look like in practice?

The term “regenerative” is now widely used, yet its application often lacks clarity. It can feel aspirational, even abstract — and at times, it risks implying that current approaches are inherently insufficient without offering a clear pathway forward.
If regenerative design is the destination, many cities still need a map.

In this presentation, Dr. Jamie Miller will introduce a regenerative framework and tool that provides a structured way to translate ambition into action. Together, they help cities and projects assess where they stand today, identify opportunities to create positive environmental and social outcomes, and define clear pathways towards regenerative performance. Drawing on over two decades of experience across North America, the Middle East and Asia, he will show how this approach is applied in practice.

Dr Sarah Chen is a pioneering figure in the integration of human health outcomes with built environment design. With a background in environmental psychology and architecture, she has spent 18 years researching and applying evidence-based design principles across healthcare facilities, educational campuses, and urban regeneration projects. Sarah leads SJ's global Health and Wellbeing practice, advising clients on how spaces can actively support physical and mental wellbeing. Her thought leadership courses explore the intersection of neuroscience, sustainability, and human-centric design, offering learners a fresh perspective on what buildings can truly achieve.

Michael Osei-Tutu brings over 25 years of multi-discipline leadership across three continents. His courses focus on leadership, collaboration, and the art of translating strategy into on-the-ground reality.

Dr Elena Vasquez has spent her career at the forefront of sustainable design and climate adaptation. A civil engineer by training and a sustainability specialist by passion, she has led environmental strategy on some of the world's most ambitious regenerative development projects. Elena advises international clients on net zero pathways, circular economy integration, and climate resilience. Her courses combine rigorous technical insight with a deeply practical understanding of what it takes to deliver sustainability at scale.

With over 20 years of experience at the intersection of technology and the built environment, Professor James Carrington leads SJ's digital transformation practice globally. A former academic researcher in AI-assisted design, James has advised government bodies on infrastructure digitalisation and has overseen the implementation of BIM and digital twins on projects exceeding £2bn in value. His courses cut through the hype to deliver practical, implementable strategies for AI and digital adoption.

Mr Mah was appointed Chairman of SJ Group on 1 January 2021.

Mr Mah is also Chairman of NetLink NBN Management Pte. Ltd. (trustee-manager of Netlink NBN Trust listed on the SGX) and Chairman of National Environment Agency. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of SG Eco Fund and National University of Singapore (NUS). He also serves on the boards of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Flipkart Private Limited and CapitaLand Investment Limited.

Mr Mah served on the boards of the Singapore Tourism Board as the Chairman from 2017 to 2023,
the Singapore Economic Development Board from 2015 to 2021, the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) from 2007 to 2014, during which he was SLA’s Chairman between 2010 and 2014 and the Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC) from 2015 to March 2023 during which he was SAC’s Chairman from 2016 to March 2023. He was Chairman of the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce between 2015 and 2017, and an external member of the Audit Committee of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank from 2017 to 2020.

In 2016, Mr Mah retired as CEO of Deloitte Southeast Asia and Chairman of Deloitte Singapore. He was with Deloitte for over 38 years, including five years in its Melbourne office. During his tenure, Mr Mah led teams serving multinational and local companies across a wide spectrum of industries, specialising in financial services, telecommunications & technology, real estate, private equity and manufacturing and advising companies in mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance. Mr Mah was also the CEO of Deloitte Asia Pacific and member of Deloitte Global Executive in 2007 – 2015 and the Vice Chairman of Deloitte’s Global Board from 2015 to 2016.

Mr Mah is the Non-Resident Ambassador to Republic of Costa Rica. He was awarded the Public Service Medal (PBM) in 2014 and the Public Services Star (BBM) in 2022 for his contributions to public service.

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Uwe Krueger was appointed Deputy Chairman of SJ Group on 1 February 2026.
Prof Krueger is Vice Chairman, European Partnerships at Temasek International, where he joined in 2018 as Head of Industrials, Business Services, Energy and Resources, as well as Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa. He also serves on the boards of gategroup AG (Vice Chairman), Chain IQ Group AG, and Sembcorp Industries.
Prior to Temasek International, he was Chief Executive Officer of WS Atkins, where he led the company through a period of significant growth and strategic repositioning, culminating in its acquisition by SNC-Lavalin and delisting from the London Stock Exchange. He played a key role in the successful merger integration and transition to the combined global engineering platform.
Previously, Prof Krueger held senior leadership roles across industry and investment, including President of Cleantech Switzerland, Senior Advisor to TPG Capital, and Chief Executive Officer of Oerlikon Group. He began his career at the international strategy consulting firm A.T. Kearney, before joining Hochtief AG, where he spent a decade in senior executive roles, including Chief Executive Officer of Central and Eastern Europe (Warsaw, Poland; Moscow, Russia), Senior Vice President of Corporate Development (Essen, Germany), and Senior Vice President and Chairman of Turner International (Dallas, US), a Hochtief subsidiary.
Prof. Krueger holds a PhD in Physics and a graduate degree in Physics and Business Administration from the University of Frankfurt. He is an Honorary Professor of Physics at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University and holds an honorary doctorate from Heriot-Watt University. In 2016, he won the ACE European CEO of the Year award.

Mr Sean Chiao is Group Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors, Surbana Jurong (SJ Group).

Sean works with a global talent force of 16,000 across 120 offices in over 40 countries around the world operating under the group’s ten specialist brands comprising design, engineering, facilities and asset management professionals. Leveraging over 35 years’ experience in built environment consulting and global business leadership, Sean is driving SJ Group’s transformation and charter to accelerate the transition to a regenerative future, enabled by sustainability thinking and the adoption of digital technology and smart solutions. An advocate for developing future generations of talent, Sean has instituted Councils of Excellence to drive innovation and excellence in every field, and increased programmes for early professionals, promoting career mobility and enhancing skills development.

Prior to this, Sean held senior leadership positions at AECOM, one of the world’s largest infrastructure, design and engineering companies. He was Chief Executive, Buildings and Places, a global business line and in that capacity, led a team of over 10,000 covering a wide range of market sectors. Before that, Sean served as AECOM’s President, Asia Pacific where he oversaw its business operations in Greater China, Southeast Asia, India, Australia and New Zealand. Prior to this, Sean held senior leadership positions at AECOM, one of the world’s largest infrastructure, design and engineering companies. He was Chief Executive, Buildings and Places, a global business line and in that capacity, led a team of over 10,000 covering a wide range of market sectors. Before that, Sean served as AECOM’s President, Asia Pacific where he oversaw its business operations in Greater China, Southeast Asia, India, Australia and New Zealand. Prof Cheong Koon Hean is Chair of the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities as well as Professor of Practice in the Singapore University of Technology and Design. She is concurrently Chairman of the Centre for Liveable Cities Advisory Panel under the Ministry of National Development, Singapore.

Prof Cheong was the CEO of the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) from 2004 to 2010 and Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of National Development from 2001 to 2016. She steered the urban transformation of Singapore and oversaw the development of major growth areas, notably Marina Bay the new city extension. Prof Cheong was also the CEO of the Housing and Development Board (HDB) from 2010 to 2020, overseeing the development and management of over 1 million public housing flats.

An active contributor to international discourse on urban issues, Prof Cheong was a former global Board trustee of the Urban Land Institute and member of the World Economic Forum’s Real Estate and Urbanisation Council; a former Deputy President and Council Member of the International Federation of Housing and Planning. She continues to serve on several international expert panels advising on governance, planning and sustainability.

Prof Cheong is currently a board member of Capitaland Group. She had previously served on the boards of the National University of Singapore (NUS), Urban Redevelopment Authority, Housing & Development Board, Jurong Town Corporation, National Heritage Board, Jurong Port and the Civil Service College. In 2023, Prof Cheong was appointed as Singapore’s Non-Resident Ambassador to Finland.

A Colombo Plan scholar, Prof Cheong holds a degree in Architecture (1st class Honours and University Gold Medal) and a Doctor of Architecture honoris causa conferred by the University of Newcastle (Australia); a Master’s degree in Urban Development Planning from University College London and has completed the Advanced Management Programme in Harvard Business School. Prof Cheong has also been conferred multiple awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal for outstanding public service, the Urban Land Institute’s Visionaries in Urban Development Award and the CTBUH’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mr Gan Chee Yen is the Chairman of V3 Capital Investments Pte. Ltd. He serves on the Board of Heliconia Capital Management Pte. Ltd., Singapore Post Limited, BHG Retail Trust Management Pte Ltd and 65 Equity Partners Pte Ltd. He is also an Independent Member of the Investment Committee of Mapletree Japan Investment Country Private Trust.

He was previously the Co-President and Executive Director of Pacific International Lines (Private) Limited, where he was a key member of the leadership team to execute the successful turnaround of the company’s businesses before he retired in August 2022. Prior to that, he was the CEO and Executive Director of Fullerton Financial Holdings (International) Pte. Ltd. (‘FFH’). He was Chairman or Board Member of several of its overseas portfolio companies, including being a Board Commissioner of Bank Danamon Indonesia from 2003 to 2019. Prior to FFH, he was Co-Chief Investment Officer, Senior Managing Director and Head of China Market at Temasek International Pte. Ltd. He joined Temasek in May 2003 as Chief Financial Officer and progressed to serve in various investments roles as a member of the senior management team. The investment clusters he led included the Financial Industry portfolio and the Transportation and Logistics portfolio, where he anchored several successful investments, before he took on the role of Co-Chief Investment Officer.

Mr Gan holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the National University of Singapore and is a Chartered Accountant (Singapore) of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants. He also attended the Harvard Business School’s Program for Management Development in September 2001.

Mr Gregory Hodkinson has 50 years’ experience as an international consulting engineer in infrastructure and urban development. He joined Arup in 1973 and worked at increasing levels of responsibility while based in different parts of the world, until completing his term as Arup Group Chairman in 2019 and retiring from the firm in 2020.

Mr Hodkinson is currently Chair of the Ove Arup Foundation, an Advisory Board member of Van Lanschot Kempen, the Dutch investment bank, a Corporate Advisor to Temasek, and Adjunct Faculty at The Blavatnick School of Government at The University of Oxford. He was Chair of the UK Government’s International Development Infrastructure Commission, a Trustee of Asia House and Co-Chair of the Urban Development and Infrastructure Industries at the World Economic Forum, and has been a Visiting Professor at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. He is a Fellow of The Institution of Civil Engineers and the Royal Society of Arts. In addition to his professional and industry activities, he has held various governance roles at the NGO WaterAid since 2006.

Mr. Dinesh Khanna joined Temasek in October 2024 as Joint Head, Portfolio Development Group & Corporate Strategy.

Prior to joining Temasek, Dinesh was Managing Director and Senior Partner of Boston Consulting Group (BGC), where he spent 22 years holding various senior leadership roles, such as Global Chair of the People Team and member of the Executive and Operating Committees. Dinesh had served in several leadership capacities, including Worldwide Leader of Global Advantage Practice and Corporate Development Practice. He has led the Corporate Development and Private Equity for Asia region and was Head of BCG Singapore. Under his stewardship, BCG underwent substantial workforce innovation. Before Dinesh joined BCG, he had also co-founded a startup in India.

Dinesh holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and a Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

Prof Yaacob Bin Ibrahim joined the group in 2019.

Professor Yaacob Bin Ibrahim is currently a Professor of Practice and Adjunct Professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. He was an Advisor to the Office of the President and Community Leadership and Social Innovation Centre of Singapore Institute of Technology (“SIT”). Prior to his position at SIT, Prof Yaacob served as a Minister in the Ministries of Communications and Information (2011-2018), Environment and Water Resources (2004-2011) and Community Development and Sports (2002-2004). Throughout the 16 years as a Minister, he was also Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs.

Prof Yaacob is Chairman of the Governing Board of St John’s Island National Marine Laboratory, a board member of the National Kidney Foundation and a Board Member of Surbana Jurong Group. He is also an independent director of Oceanus Group Limited and serves as Advisor of AI Singapore.

Prof Yaacob graduated from the University of Singapore with a degree in Civil Engineering and has a PhD from Stanford University.

Ms Ku is currently a Director of Netlink NBN Management Pte. Ltd., trustee-manager of Netlink NBN Trust and Far East Orchard Limited. She had served on the Board and working committees of a number of non-profit organisations.

Prior to her directorship roles, Ms Ku spent 27 years in Accenture Singapore where she was a Managing Director. She assumed multiple Asia Pacific leadership roles during her career at Accenture where she led technology and consulting projects across clients in various industries and countries. She was based in Greater China for four years where she established the Change Management practice in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan where she worked with clients to transform their organisation and workforce.

Ms Ku is a member of the Remuneration Committee at NBN Management Pte Ltd where she also chairs the Risk and Sustainability Committee. She is the Chair of the Nominating Committee and a member of the Remuneration Committee at Far East Orchard Limited. She has stepped down from the Council of Singapore Cancer Society after more than 9 years where she was the Chairperson of its Digital and Technology Committee. She has retired as a director of Anyhealth Company Limited, a company in China focused on providing business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) healthcare mobile solutions in November 2024.

Ms Ku obtained her Bachelor of Science from the National University of Singapore and Master of Business Administration (with Distinction) from the DePaul University, Chicago.

Ms Yeo is a board member of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and a director in Keppel DC REIT Management Pte. Ltd. (manager of listed Keppel DC REIT) and SimplyGo Pte. Ltd. (a subsidiary of the Land Transport Authority of Singapore).

Ms Yeo has more than 30 years of experience in professional practice and in finance roles in commercial organisations. She was a partner in Deloitte & Touche LLP until her retirement and was the head of its real estate practice. Ms Yeo led audits of clients engaged in infrastructure projects, property development and investment and related technical services. She also led audits in other segments of the economy including manufacturing, marine transportation, oil and derivative trading, hospitality, retail and channel distribution. She had supported clients on initial public offerings of equity and debt securities.

Ms Yeo holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of Singapore (now part of the National University of Singapore). She is a Fellow of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants and a member of Singapore Institute of Directors.

Ms Lim Cheng Cheng is Group Chief Financial Officer of SJ Group.

Cheng Cheng has over three decades of experience across corporate finance, strategy, transformation, and investments in leading organisations. At Singtel, one of Asia’s leading communications technology groups, she held senior leadership roles including Group CFO, where she led financial strategy and contributed to growing its regional and digital businesses. She also served as its Group Chief Corporate Officer, overseeing a broad Group portfolio including Legal, Risk, M&A, Procurement, Property, Corporate Shared Services, and the Group’s Corporate Venture fund.

Prior to Singtel, Cheng Cheng held senior finance roles at SMRT Corporation, Singapore’s leading multi-modal public transport operator, and Singapore Power, a major energy utilities provider, building a strong foundation in financial planning, investor relations, and procurement.

Cheng Cheng has a Bachelor of Accountancy from the Nanyang Technological University and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Albert Shu leads SJ Group’s global communications and marketing, ensuring close alignment with business priorities and long-term growth ambitions.

Albert brings three decades of international experience, including over 20 years with Weber Shandwick, one of the world’s leading public relations firms. He was formerly President of Weber Shandwick’s Singapore and Hong Kong operations – two of its largest offices globally – where he led their integration as a regional hub and served as senior counsel to major clients in message development, corporate communications and positioning, issues and crisis management, stakeholder engagement and executive advisory.

As the Regional Head of Marketing and Communications for Deloitte Consulting in Asia Pacific and Africa, he built the firm’s marketing infrastructure and programmes across Australia, Greater China, Korea, Southeast Asia and South Africa.

Albert holds a Master of Arts in Journalism and Bachelor of Science in Genetics from the University of Western Ontario in Canada.

As Chief People and Culture Officer, Windy Weng leads SJ’s efforts to empower, develop and elevate its people, focusing on organisational performance and long-term growth. She oversees key talent and organisational priorities, including leadership and succession, talent development, employee engagement and wellbeing, global mobility, and the company’s holistic approach to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging. A key priority is accelerating AI fluency across the Group, ensuring every employee is equipped with the mindset, skills and practical capabilities needed to thrive in an AI-enabled work environment.

Windy brings over 20 years of global human resources leadership experience across Asia, North America and Europe. Before joining SJ, she served as Vice President, HR Global Leadership, Talent and Culture at Xylem, a global leader in water infrastructure. Prior to that, she held senior global and regional HR roles for over 17 years at Colgate-Palmolive, supporting its large, complex operations through pivotal periods of organisational change.

Windy holds a Bachelor of Practical Psychology from the Beijing Normal University, and a Master of Business Administration from the Canada Royal Road University.

Mr. Yan Mung Hou is the Chief Technology Officer of SJ Group, responsible for advancing the Group’s digital and technology capabilities. He works closely with senior leaders to strengthen business performance and enable capability for exceptional project delivery, while aligning processes and driving technology adoption aligned with SJ’s strategic business objectives.

With over 30 years of experience, Mung Hou has a strong track record in digital transformation, cloud adoption, cybersecurity and enterprise systems. He has spearheaded major digital initiatives across real estate, finance, healthcare and hospitality, delivering solutions that transform business operations and enhance innovation. Prior to joining SJ in 2025, he held senior technology leadership roles at CapitaLand, Resorts World Sentosa and AXA, delivering complex programmes that build business resilience and drive innovation.

A highly accomplished IT leader, Mung Hou has been recognised for his contributions to technology innovation and excellence, with accolades including the IDG CIO100 ASEAN Award and SPARK Asia 200 Digital Leaders Award.

Mung Hou holds a Master of Information Technology (Software Engineering) and Degree of Bachelor of Science from the National University of Singapore.

As Chief AI Officer, Mr Wu Chun Wei leads SJ’s dedicated AI team to strengthen AI capabilities across the Group.

Chun Wei has over 25 years of expertise in digital and AI transformation, gained through roles at Temus, Amazon Web Services and Accenture. His extensive experience spans leading technology businesses with end-to-end commercial ownership, delivering complex enterprise solutions at scale and building high-performing teams that translate strategy into measurable outcomes. He is dedicated to cultivating AI talents and teams that pair operational excellence with a results-driven culture, working closely with engineering teams while leveraging emerging technologies.

Chun Wei holds a Bachelor of Computing in Computer Science and Information Systems from the National University of Singapore.

Mr Ernest Tan is Chief Legal Counsel of SJ Group, with oversight of the group’s legal, corporate secretariat, compliance and insurance functions.

He is responsible for strengthening group-wide governance and compliance, and for embedding contractual discipline across SJ’s engagements and cross-border projects. He plays a central role in upholding standards aligned with international benchmarks, and partners business leaders to enable responsible growth anchored in sound legal strategy and proactive risk management.

Ernest brings over two decades of international legal experience across the infrastructure, engineering, consulting, chemicals, fintech and technology sectors, with senior leadership responsibility spanning more than 60 jurisdictions. Most recently, as Group General Counsel at DyStar Group, he strengthened regulatory oversight, integrated ESG and anti-bribery frameworks and led complex cross-border matters.

Ernest is qualified in Singapore, England and Wales, and holds a Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.

As Chief Corporate Affairs Officer reporting to the Group CEO, Karen Yew is responsible for executive communications and strategic stakeholder engagement. In this role, she supports the Group CEO in building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, Global Leadership Team, and employees, as well as external stakeholders that include industry associations, think tanks, and government agencies.

Karen plays a key role in protecting the Group’s reputation and sustaining trust - establishing protocols for coordinated response, guiding messaging during critical issues, and ensuring alignment with the Group’s brand and communication strategy.

Before joining SJ Group, Karen served as the Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Marketing and Communications at Mediacorp, where she played an integral role in transforming the company from a traditional broadcaster to a multi-platform national media network. As the Vice President of Brand and Communications at NTUC Income, she was instrumental in promoting the insurer's innovative agenda and distinctive policies and practices. During her tenure at IBM, she led the ASEAN brand and communications team, supporting the company's operations in both mature and high-growth markets.

Karen started her career as a journalist after completing her honours degree in English Literature from the University of Reading, where she studied on a Singapore Broadcasting Corporation scholarship.

A seasoned C-suite executive with more than 30 years of experience in the built environment, Dr. Andy Lee brings a rare combination of technical excellence, business leadership and strategic foresight across Asian markets.

As Chief Executive of Buildings + Cities, he leads SJ Group’s global efforts to deliver integrated, sustainable and future-ready urban solutions. In his role as Regional Head for Greater China, he provides strategic leadership and oversees operational performance across these dynamic markets, underpinned by his deep industry knowledge and trusted relationships across the region.

Andy was also previously the Global Head of Key Clients and Pursuits, where he played a pivotal role in shaping SJ Group’s strategies for major business pursuits and client relationship management. His leadership has helped to strengthen SJ’s competitive edge and drive consistent, high-quality outcomes across the organisation.

As Chief Executive, Infrastructure + Energy, James leads the realignment of SJ’s businesses for the infrastructure sector into a unified global operating model, while driving strategic growth and operational excellence.

James has been an integral member of SMEC’s executive and leadership team since 2014, and was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of SMEC Australia & New Zealand in 2018. He is responsible for providing leadership, direction, operational management, and governance to the ANZ business.

James has undertaken leadership and governance roles on many large, significant infrastructure projects including Western Sydney Airports Stations, Systems, Trains, Operations and Maintenance (SSTOM), Melbourne’s North-East Link, Sydney Metro Northwest, NorthConnex, WestConnex M4 East IC and Snowy Hydro 2.0.

He is a highly experienced professional with more than 35 years’ experience, many in Senior Director and Executive roles establishing, building, and leading engineering businesses across a broad range of industries. James has delivered projects and business growth in challenging and highly complex environments in Australia, New Zealand, UK, USA and Southeast Asia.

Mr. Alfred Fox is Chief Executive, Integrated Solutions, SJ Group’s unified smart facility management, security advisory and operations business in Singapore and overseas markets. Alfred leads a multidisciplinary team of security, engineering, data scientists and operational technology specialists to safeguard clients' assets and build insights into our future. By unifying operations and technology in the digital space, the team aims to unlock new possibilities and transform portfolio performance throughout the entire asset life cycle.

Before assuming his current position, Alfred served as the Group’s Chief People and Culture Officer, overseeing employee engagement, culture development, talent acquisition, development and retention, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, as well as optimisation of HR systems. During his time as CEO at AETOS, an SJ company, he cultivated a high-performing organisational culture and led initiatives for talent development across a workforce of 5,000 employees.
Before joining SJ in 2019, Alfred held several key positions in Singapore’s Ministry of Defence. Among these roles was as a Division Commander in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), responsible for maintaining a high level of operational readiness by building ready and capable units for the Army. During that time, he was also the Chairman of the 2018 Singapore National Day Parade Executive Committee.

Between 2012 and 2016, Alfred was the Assistant Chief of General Staff (Personnel) for the Army and concurrent Non-Resident Defence Attache (NRDA) to Cambodia. As NRDA, he deepened the defence relations between the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and the SAF. He was also part of the founding team of the Future Systems Directorate at Singapore’s Ministry of Defence, which looked at conceptualising warfighting concepts through close ops-tech integration. Deployed to Afghanistan in 2008, he was the first National Liaison Officer in Kabul and concurrently worked with NATO/ISAF, the Afghan National Army and the Pakistan Military to build border control centres along the Afghan-Pakistan border.

Alfred is a recipient of the Public Service Administration Medal (Silver) Military, the NATO-ISAF Overseas Service Medal and the Long Service Medal (Military). He is also a member of the ACCORD (Advisory Council on Community Relations in Defence) Employer & Business Council.

He holds a B.A from the National University of Singapore and a Masters in Public Management from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and Harvard School of Government.

Mr Kelvin Ko is Chief Executive of Programme Management at SJ Group, leading a business line that delivers integrated management of complex, multidisciplinary projects in alignment with the Group’s strategic priorities.

In this role, Kelvin is responsible for overseeing the planning, advisory, design and engineering management, digital integration, and stakeholder coordination across major global programmes. He is focused on driving scalability and growth while championing quality, compliance, and SJ Group’s differentiated value proposition in programme delivery.

Kelvin brings over 30 years of experience in project and construction management across large-scale infrastructure and building developments. Prior to joining SJ Group, he served as Project Director at Hip Hing Construction, where he led the delivery of Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Sports Park – pioneering digital fabrication methods, smart site management systems and venue operations technologies.

His portfolio includes other high-profile projects such as the West Kowloon Station for the Hong Kong High Speed Rail and the proposed Kuala-Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail.

Earlier in his career, Kelvin held key roles with both contractors and asset owners, including Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway Corporation and the Airport Authority, contributing to the successful execution of critical infrastructure projects.

Kelvin is a Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and the Institution of Structural Engineers. He holds a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Design and Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Hong Kong.

Ms Virginia Anderson is SJ Group’s Regional Head, Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). Leading a diverse, talented team of over 2,600 specialists delivering professional services throughout the project lifecycle. Her focus is on client experience, technical excellence and employee engagement to drive growth across the region.

Virginia has over 25 years’ experience in infrastructure advisory; predominantly in the investment, planning and development of major infrastructure projects for both public and private sector clients. Enjoying a diverse career, Virginia has played a key role in shaping major projects across the transport, urban development, education, social infrastructure and health sectors. Commencing her professional life as a Transport Planner, Virginia is most engaged by supporting the functional, economic and social productivity of cities.

Prior to joining SMEC in 2022, where she has held several leadership roles, Virginia worked in engineering professional services, State Government in Victoria and founded her own infrastructure advisory firm.

A strong advocate for equality, diversity, and inclusion, Virginia has championed the value of curiosity, diversity of thought and lived experience and has worked to break down barriers for women and girls in gender-segregated industries, throughout her career. She is committed to fostering environments where people feel valued, empowered, and able to contribute their best to solving complex challenges and creating positive impact for our clients and communities.

Virginia is a Fellow of Engineers Australia and holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons) from RMIT University. She has also completed graduate studies in Psychology at the University of Melbourne.

Mr Nico Kienzl drives the growth of SJ Group's businesses in the Americas, Europe and the UK (AEUK) region, working with the Group’s network of talent and strengthening client relationships.

He is a founding director of Atelier Ten’s New York City office and a key member of Atelier Ten’s US and international leadership group. With over 20 years of experience in sustainability consulting, his expertise includes the application of advanced building analysis for façade optimisation, daylight and shading analysis and optimisation of building systems.

Nico has been instrumental in delivering a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, institutional, cultural and masterplan projects throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. His work not only advances environmental performance but also drives the building industry toward a more sustainable future. In recognition of his exemplary contributions to green building and significant professional achievements within the LEED community, he was one of only 43 distinguished professionals worldwide to be named LEED Fellow of 2012, the most prestigious accolade awarded by Green Building Certification Institute.

Nico is a member of the Board of Directors for the Urban Green Council and Architecture League of New York. He served as a Representative Member and Peer Reviewer for the U.S. General Services Administration’s (GSA) Green Building Federal Advisory Committee and GSA Design Excellence Program, respectively, and is currently an Industry Advisor for the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations for the U.S. Department of State.

He received a Doctor of Design from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, a Master of Science in Building Technology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Diploma in Architecture from the Technical University of Munich.

Mr Hassan Taleb is the Regional Head for SJ’s business in the Africa, Middle East and Central Asia (AMECA) region, bringing more than two decades of international experience in delivering excellence across complex, high-profile projects.

Hassan began his career in the United Kingdom, contributing to a range of landmark developments before expanding his portfolio across the Middle East and Asia. His early exposure to diverse markets and multidisciplinary teams shaped his holistic approach to leadership and design delivery.

He joined Robert Bird Group, an SJ company, in 2005, and relocated to Dubai in 2007, where he played a pivotal role in establishing and growing the Middle East office. His strategic vision, combined with his ability to build and inspire high performing teams, was instrumental in positioning the office as a trusted partner for some of the region’s most iconic and technically challenging projects.

Hassan’s project experience spans a wide spectrum of sectors, including aviation, commercial, residential, retail, leisure and healthcare. He collaborates closely with stakeholders, and translates their priorities into optimal, economical and value driven design solutions. He firmly believes that the strongest client relationships are built on trust, transparency and a relentless commitment to delivering value.

At the core of his leadership philosophy is the belief that businesses anchored in deep technical specialism — supported by strong leadership, talented people and a culture of teamwork — are best positioned to make a meaningful impact in their markets. Today, he leads a team who consistently push boundaries and set new benchmarks in engineering excellence.

Hassan holds a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the Imperial College London.

As Co-Chair of the Architecture+Design Council of Excellence, Sheena Tan plays a pivotal role in shaping SJ’s design philosophy and culture, stewarding a shared design vision across the Group, and building strong collaboration between and within the design disciplines. As Director, Architecture + Design for Asia and SAA Architects, an SJ company, she drives key corporate and strategic initiatives across the architecture practice, with a focus on quality, innovation and building organisational capabilities.

A seasoned architectural and design professional, Sheena brings over 20 years of experience in master planning, design management and architectural design. She has driven the master planning and design management of a major large-scale nature and wildlife attraction, delivering key visitor infrastructure, as well as high-density residential developments.

Sheena holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University.

As Co-Chair of the Architecture+Design Council of Excellence, Sonny Sanjari plays an integral role in shaping SJ’s design philosophy and culture, advancing thought leadership and strengthening capability across the Group.

With over 27 years of experience in architectural design and planning, including two decades with B+H, an SJ company, Sonny has led complex, large-scale mixed-use developments across diverse markets. He is recognised for his deep command of the design lifecycle and collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to delivering high-quality outcomes. Through the delivery of numerous integrated urban developments that bring together commercial, recreational and residential uses, Sonny’s work demonstrates how holistic, multidimensional planning can create vibrant, resilient communities.

Throughout his career across North America and the Middle East, Sonny has maintained a strong focus on sustainability and high-performance design. His commitment to energy efficiency, green building practices and environmental stewardship reflects his belief that architecture should not only serve people but also contribute positively to the planet.

Sonny is a registered architect and member of the Ontario Association of Architects as well as a LEED Accredited Professional.

Dr Michele Kruger brings exceptional passion and a wealth of experience to her role. Dr Kruger chairs the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council of FIDIC, the International Federation of Consulting Engineers. She has co-authored a book dedicated to the subject, “The Development of Young Professionals and Women in STEM careers” published by Taylor & Francis Group (USA). Dr Kruger was honoured with the prestigious FIDIC President & CEO Award 2023 for her contributions to the field, especially in the area of capacity building for professionals of all backgrounds.

Dr Kruger actively engages leaders, employees and works closely with the People & Culture team to foster a culture where everyone belongs and thrives.

Mr John Ward is a long-standing Director of the Robert Bird Group, having worked in the RBG’s Brisbane and Sydney offices before moving to the London office as a founding member in 2003. His experience covers a wide range of structure types and sectors including residential, commercial, retail, hospital, research and public buildings, heritage, wharf and offshore structures, airports, rail infrastructure, forensic engineering and advanced analysis. He has served as RBG project director for recent major projects including Battersea Power Station, Abu Dhabi International Airport Midfield Terminal and the London Bank Station Capacity Upgrade.

As Chair of the SJ Group Council of Engineering Excellence, John will lead the Council to develop and implement a high-level technical vision and strategy to generate innovative, economical, and practical technical leadership and capability across the SJ Group. John will work closely with the Global Leadership Team, Business Line and Regional Leaders to drive technical capability across the organisation, as well as leveraging technical excellence from across the Group into client offerings and building strong relationships with professional bodies and educational institutions globally to promote research and engineering best practices.

John has a passion for the application of digital technology and advanced engineering within the Construction industry. He established and oversees the RBG Advanced Technical Services, a team applying modern analytical technology to a range of complex engineering problems. Team capabilities include parametric design optimisation, construction stage analysis, offshore construction, structural dynamics, blast analysis, soil-structure interaction and numerical simulation.

John has had a longstanding interest in tidal energy technology and has been involved in a number of world-first projects in this sector. John was the RBG Project Director for the MeyGen Phase 1A turbine support structures which won the 2017 IStructE award for “Structures in Extreme Conditions” and the 2018 NCE100 award for “Excellence in Alternative Energy”. John is also a member of the UK shadow panel contributing to development of the IEC code for Marine Energy Devices.

John is a member of the UK Working Group contributing to the development of the next generation of Structural Steel Eurocodes and has previously served as a member of the editorial panel for the ICE Buildings and Structures journal. John is also involved in a range of industry panels and initiatives supporting sustainable design and use of steel in construction.

Ms Rebecca Miller is Chair of the SJ Council of Sustainability, she brings over 20 years’ experience working across a broad spectrum of climate change, community resilience and sustainability projects. She has a wealth of experience related to climate risk and adaptation, community resilience, infrastructure sustainability, sustainable communities, sustainability frameworks, assessment and reporting; stakeholder engagement; and, change management.

Rebecca is a recognised leader in the fields of climate risk and community resilience, having led the development of climate risk, and resilience requirements for both the Infrastructure Sustainability Council (IS Council) Infrastructure Sustainability Tool and the Green Buildings Council of Australia (GBCA) Green Star New Buildings Tool.

She was the 2018 IS Council’s Individual Leadership Award recipient, recognising her work in resilience as providing an outstanding contribution to forwarding infrastructure sustainability across Australia and New Zealand. She was also recognised in 2024 as a GBCA Green Star Champion for services to forwarding climate and community resilience within Green Star and across the built environment.

Rebecca holds a Master of Studies in Sustainability Leadership (with distinction) from the University of Cambridge.
